How do you install these bushings without breaking them?
To replace the bushings on your Uncommon Telescoping Flagpole: 1.) Lower the flagpole sections and remove it from the ground sleeve. 2.) Remove any ornaments from the top of the flagpole (gold ball, eagle, solar light, etc.). 3.) Remove the screws from the top stop ring (located below the top harness). This will allow you to lower the top stop ring and top harness so you can access the top ornament fitting into which the gold ball was threaded. 4.) Gently tap upward on the rim of the top ornament fitting with a rubber mallet until it is free from the flagpole. 5.) Slide the stop ring and remaining harnesses off the top of the flagpole. 6.) At the bottom of the flagpole, remove the screw(s) from the bottom cup; then, remove the bottom cup from the flagpole by gently shaking it up and down. 7.) Slide the large section over the top of the remaining sections and replace the largest bushing. 8.) To replace bushings on the remaining sections, continue using this process: 8a.) Drill out the rivets at the bottom of the section(s) using a #30, 1/8" drill bit. 8b.) To remove the plunger housing, first remove the screw(s) from either side of the plunger pin. Then, push the plunger housing out of the bottom of the section by holding the pin in with one hand. At the same time, take a small screwdriver and push in the tab on each side of the section so the plunger becomes off-set. Finally, gently shake the flagpole up and down to remove the plunger housing. 9.) Now, the section will slide over the top of the remaining section(s) and the bushing can be accessed and replaced.
